A little about Halloween history
It is said that it all started with the Samhain Celtic Harvest Festival, which was celebrated on October 31st, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the Celtic winter and New Year. In that time of cold and death, people used to light bonfires and wear spooky clothes to scare away ghosts or evil spirits, all this in order to prevent them from damaging the crops.
That is why it is believed that Samhain was what inspired the tradition of wearing costumes and going to the houses around the area to sing in exchange for food, a tradition that began in Ireland and that eventually spread throughout the rest of Europe and America.
